Hi everyone! Here is a journal page I created for the August contest at Chic Scrapbook Designs by Limor Webber . The challenge this month is to create a journal page with a sunset/skies theme featuring Faber Castell - Design Memory Craft products. I chose to use Gelatos and Big Brush Pitt Artist Pens .
I have never really done anything like this before and was pretty nervous about how my scenery would turn out!
I have had the couple stamp by Stampin Up for ages now so decided to incorporate that into my scene. I coloured the image with my Inktense pencils, added it to the blank gessoed page, then built my scene around it.
I started with the green grass, then onto the water, using acrylic paint for both.
I cut out some trees with my Cricut using the Christmas cartridge.
The sunset and reflection was created using a combination of Gelatos and Pitt Markers, both from the Faber Castell - Design Memory Craft line. I used my fingers to blend the colours onto the page. It is pretty neat!
After I was finished with the sunset, I had the bright idea to cover it with Gel Medium, thinking it would act like a sealer. As I was putting it on, I noticed that the colours were streaking and mixing in with the gel. I am still learning! So I decided I would go with that look instead :-) It muted the colours quite a bit.
I added a quote along the top, which reads, "It is almost impossible to watch a sunset and not dream".
Thanks for stopping by!

My Inner Artist
Hi everyone! I created this blog to share a new interest of mine. Recently I have been dabbling in some mixed media work and have enjoyed it so much that I decided to create this blog dedicated to that area. I of course will still be posting on my other blog, Confessions of a Scrapaholic, but figured this would be a better place to share my mixed media creations and leave my other blog for my "Cricut" stuff. Last week, I started my very first art journal. I have to admit it was a bit scary at first because I had so many ideas floating through my head and was afraid I would mess it up. After I did my first page, I realized that I couldn't really mess it up. The page turned out totally different than what I initially envisioned, but wow, I was impressed with myself LOL
I created the page for a mixed media contest on Facebook, put on my Limor1278 (her YouTube name) We were asked to create something using stencils along with any technique she had demonstrated in her videos.
